Looking for Housing Grant

What an awful situation for you and your family. Living in an area where you are not safe debilitates one, which gets worse the longer you stay. I can certainly relate to the need to re-locate, but not having the financial means to do so. I'm in a similar situation, although my need/desire to move is not due to a dangerous and violent neighborhood. I hate the helplessness I feel when the finances needed to improve the quality of life (and I don't mean a big house, fancy car, etc.... just being able to live in a place where we can live simply and focus on what's important to us) just aren't there. I like Rosie327's idea, although it may be difficult to rent your place and you would need to be careful that the tenants don't destroy the place. I would also research resources in your area for rental assistance and any other assistance your area offers (we have government rental assistance for those who qualify, but most waitlists are closed). Please try not to let the situation paralyze you and your husband. I do know how hard it is to try to get help (eg. the cops not helping) and continually run into wall after wall, but it sounds like you really need to get out of there. You are in my prayers. Do you own yoru home now?  Is it possible to rent our your home and rent something for less in a better area until you save enough for a downpayment?  Sounds scary there!  Can you get rental assistance?  Best wishes, Rosie

We are a family of 4 and need to deperately buy a home out of where we are now. The problem is we have no money. I run a business out of my home, but getting nowhere yet. My husband cannot find work and my 2 kids can't even go to the park without running into trouble. They have been pushed off their bikes and the people that do this steal their bikes. My husband did retrieve my oldest sons bike but in the process he was threatened to be shot. It is very crazy here!! We would like to move out to the country to get away from all this city stuff. The cops just won't do anything.
